Here at San Jose Catholic School our military students are supported by our student-led transition program, which consists of students selected by our principal. Overseen by our school counselor, this program plays a vital role in our school community by welcoming new students transitioning into our San Jose Catholic family. A student Transition Team Coordinator and a peer-support person link new military students with others at the school within two weeks of arrival and assist with familiarizing new students with the school campus, clubs and upcoming events.

Academic Planning for Military Families and Exceptional Student Education Services

Every incoming student takes part in a New Student Assessment prior to admission, to determine their academic level of performance. Our Student Support Services provide small group support, including specialized instruction, resources, and accommodations to meet the diverse needs of students who qualify for exceptional student education services. We ensure seamless transitions by maintaining detailed academic records and collaborating with previous and future schools. Additionally, we offer counseling and social-emotional support to help students adapt and thrive in their new environment.

Educational Needs/Accomodations (DOSA Policy 700.7)

The Catholic school community in the Diocese of St. Augustine has a goal of helping all children reach their full potential intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. Individual schools establish admission policies for their own schools, which target students who are able to manage in a mainstream setting.

Limited resources prevent us from accepting students who would require more than simple accommodations.

A parentally placed private school student with a disability does not have an individual right to receive some or all of the special education and related services that the student would receive if enrolled in a public school under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), as amended.
