Since Ash Wednesday, the Middle School has been collecting travel size personal hygiene items for Blessing Bags to be distributed to the homeless. On Tuesday, May 28th, student volunteers spent their afternoon counting, sorting and stuffing bags with all the items that were collected. Thank you families for your generous donations. We were able to put together 128 Blessing Bags and even had some left over supplies to send to a shelter.
First and Second Graders kicked off summer vacation with an amazing musical production. This special show was choreographed and produced by our very own Mrs. Karel. Students learned about whales, jellyfish, sharks, lobsters, octopus, and sea turtles. It was oceans of fun!
Congratulations to MaryAlice Young (SJCS ’16) who participated last week in the International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix, AZ. MaryAlice’s project was entitled: “Using a Computer Program Applied to an Electromagnetic Walking Apparatus to Simulate Earth’s Gravity in Space.”
Each year approximately 1,800 high school students from more than 75 countries, regions, and territories are awarded the opportunity to showcase their independent research and compete for on average $5 million in prizes at Intel ISEF. The competition focuses on identifying, inspiring, and engaging the world’s next STEM generation.
MaryAlice placed 4th in her category of Robotics and Intelligent Machines winning $500. She also won a full scholarship to Florida Institute of Technology and was awarded 1st Place and $3000 from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
