Open to Students in 8th grade

Five main objectives have guided chapters of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) from the beginning: to create enthusiasm for scholarship; to stimulate a desire to render service; to promote leadership; to encourage responsible citizenship; and to develop character in the students of secondary schools. These purposes also translate into the criteria used for membership selection at San Jose Catholic School. A NJHS membership is a distinction that holds significance throughout a student’s academic life – and beyond. Requirements are that a student maintain a 3.5 GPA in their core classes or higher throughout 7th grade and continue to maintain this standard throughout 8th grade. Students will also be required to be in good standing concerning discipline. i.e. honor code violations, attendance concerns, and reminders.

NJHS members raise money during the school year to fund various community service projects.
